If you’ve been following my writing for a while, I’m sure you’re well aware by now that I do not have a consistent pattern or schedule to my writing. I write as I feel inspired, with the catalyst always being something that I’ve observed around me, whether it be something I see on the news or something that has happened in my own personal life. As such, the writing journey I’m about to embark on is a great step outside my comfort zone. And if I’m being honest, it scares me. But I’ve felt a burden in the past few weeks to share this encouragement, and so I will trust that the God who created me and called me to write will equip me through His abundant grace to find the words for this series.
I read through the book of Hebrews a few months back for my personal devotions and was, quite frankly, astounded by the encouragement I found there. I know all scripture is “breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work”. And so, it shouldn’t surprise me to find encouragement in any of the books of the bible. However, when we are walking through difficult trials in life, Hebrews is not typically a book quickly recommended to us. More often we are directed to books like Psalms and Job and James.
But I’m here to share with you the encouragement that can be found in Hebrews.
And so I’d like to announce the “SheBrews” series, a series where I will be “brewing” up some encouragement for you from the book of Hebrews. (I like a good play on words 😉)
Please know that this is not an in-depth study of this book, but rather a series of posts linking the nuggets of encouragement found throughout it. My prayer for this series is that the truths discussed will sink deep into your heart. For those currently walking through a difficult trial, I pray that you walk away from each post bolstered and reminded of the hope that Christ offers us in times of pain. For those not currently walking through a difficult trial, I pray that these truths will settle into your heart in preparation for hard seasons. We will all walk through them, and it’s easier to learn these truths beforehand rather than during those seasons.
I would like to ask that you be praying for me as I work through writing this series. It’s heavy on my heart to do this well and to accurately convey the gravity of the encouragement to be found here. Writing on a timeline is something I’ve never needed to do. And, as such, my concern is that I will compromise the quality of a post just to meet a deadline. Heaven forbid I ever compromise and not do God’s Word justice just because of a deadline.
Friends, despite stepping outside of my comfort zone, I am so excited for this series and to share with you “the comfort with which God has comforted me”. Each Saturday morning for the next few weeks, I would like to invite you to brew your favorite cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or even just a warm lemon water and sit back and soak up the precious truths to be found in the book of Hebrews. Stay tuned this week for the first post of the “SheBrews” series.
